Implementation

AGH University of Krakow is one of the leading technical universities in Poland and Central-Eastern Europe. Faculty of Energy and Fuels as one of the units the AGH University is among the leading research units developing innovative solutions in the field of chemical technology and energy.

The Faculty of Energy and Fuels (AGH) is equipped with a unique research infrastructure enabling the implementation of scheduled research. The fulfilment of the defined project’s goals will be done by carrying out a planned cascade of experiments and the complementary characterization of the obtained bioproducts.

Conversion

CONVERSION SETUPS

Conversion processes are carried out using numerous setups, e.g. a flow laboratory system configured for catalytic hydrotreating studies (up to 350 bar and 500 °C), batch autoclave for high-pressure/high-temperature experiments, batch autoclave of various volumes (10-500 ml), and a laboratory system for investigation the kinetics of the gasification process of solid products.

Analysis

Instrumental analysis

During the project realization, the qualitative and quantitive composition analyses of obtained liquid and gaseous bioproducts, as well as the characteristics of the tested heterogeneous catalysts are determined using advanced instrumental techniques, e.g. HPLC with RID and VWD detection, elemental analysis, GC with FID and TCD detection, coupled GC system with MS detection, mid-infrared spectrometry, TOC analyzer, calorimeter, XRF, adsorption studies, and thermogravimetry.

Characterization & Upgrading

Physicochemical parameters determination

Systems and analyzers for determination of physicochemical properties of obtained liquid bioproducts, including separation by distillation under atmospheric and reduced pressure, density, viscosity, low-temperature properties, and water content.
